ISO: San Luis Obispo Editors

Via the contact form:

I am working on a history of San Luis Obispo editors and am looking for resources for photographs. Many spent time as printers in San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento circa 1860-1890. Any suggestions for NOCAL institutions that may have photo archives?

Best wishes,
David Middlecamp

  1. Have you contacted the library of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo? Try the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley or the CA Historical Society in SF (on Mission St.) If they can’t help, they might be able to make recommendations.
    Sounds like an interesting project.

  2. Hi David, At SFPL, we have a large photo collection which might be useful to you. Please see this web page which has a thorough overview of the collections and their various finding aids: http://sfpl.org/index.php?pg=2000305201 I’m also happy to refer you to our Photo Curator if you like. Please feel free to contact me directly at: lisa.dunseth@sfpl.org
    Good luck with your research!
    With best regards,
    Lisa
