How were newspaper printing plates recycled after use? I am particularly interested in any research/institutions/blogs that discuss the way plates might have been used as construction materials. 
I am following the story of a set of 9 newspaper plates, dated to 1941, that were discovered under a floor in a house in Ontario. Any leads on whether this was a common practice elsewhere?
