Call for Nominations: APHA Board Trustees
The American Printing History Association (APHA) invites nominations for two Trustee positions for 2021–2023.
Are you interested in promoting and encouraging the study of the history of printing and related arts and crafts? Do you know someone who shares that same interest? Now is the chance to become more involved, to have a say in the activities and efforts of the organization, and to ensure the future of printing history.
These volunteer positions play an important advisory role to the Executive Committee (comprising APHA’s President, Treasurer, and the Vice Presidents for Programs, Publications, and Membership). There is also the opportunity to lead ad hoc committees that work in tandem with the membership to identify the needs and desires of the organization.
The APHA leadership is elected by members at the annual membership meeting that takes place at the end of January. The Board comprises individuals with a wide range of experience and expertise: commercial and private printers, printing and bookmaking instructors, booksellers, librarians, and archivists from around the country, at different points in their careers (including retirement). Trustees serve for three years, with the possibility of reelection for another three. The Board meets quarterly (April, June, during the conference in October, and just previous to the membership meeting in January), and attendance is expected. Accommodation is made for phone calls and video streaming for those that cannot attend in person. Once elected, the Trustees should be members in good standing.
Nominations (including self-nominations) are accepted through October 31, 2020. We ask for a statement of interest (no more than 500 words), a resume or CV, and complete contact information of the nominee to be sent to: APHA Nominations Committee nominations@printinghistory.org. In keeping with our pledge to support and expand opportunities for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), we especially encourage nominations of individuals traditionally underrepresented in Trustee positions at national non-profits.
Please contact Nina Schneider, Nominations Chair, if you have any questions.
Thank you!
