U. S. Government Publishing Office

Frank Romano, author, professor, and noted printing industry pundit, spoke about his recent book History of the Linotype Company on the afternoon (more exact details of time will come in the near future) of Thursday, August 18th, at the U. S. Government Publishing Office, 732 North Capitol Street, NW, Washington, DC.

At 480 pages History of the Linotype Company is considered by some as the most complete Linotype history available. This book details the products, the people, and the corporate activities that kept the company ahead of its competition in hot metal, phototypesetting, and pre-press technology.

In a career spanning over 40 years Frank Romano has worked for industry equipment manufacturers, authored over 44 books on the printing industry, founded eight industry publications,  and written for numerous other publications, reporting on, and charting the evolution of, the printing and publishing industries.  He has consulted for major corporations and government. He wrote the first report on on-demand digital printing in 1980 and ran the first conference on the subject in 1985. He is on the executive committee of The Museum of Printing in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

It was a special opportunity to benefit from Frank Romano’s extensive expertise and always entertaining delivery.
