Chesapeake Chapter Wayzgoose 2018

APHA Chesapeake Chapter Annual Wayzgoose
Saturday, November 3, 10am. to 3pm
Crooked Crow Press
508 Manakee Street, Rockville, MD.

Our much anticipated annual wayzgoose is finally here! (Well, almost.) This year’s wayzgoose will be held at the home of Chris and Pat Manson, 508 Manakee Street, Rockville, MD. Chris and Pat have very generously opened their home for the wayzgoose for a number of years now. It’s a relaxed day of good conversation, tasty food, all kinds of printing and book arts shop talk, and show and tell. This year Josef Beery will bring his BookBeetle press on which everyone will be able to print a keepsake. Chris reports that he and volunteer staff from the Library of Congress have been working on a larger, two color keepsake for the meeting, that he plans to have done ahead of time so that everyone attending can take one.

Also, Steve Heaver reminds us that members who are letterpress printers and who would like to be a part of the Nutthead Chappell should bring some sort of seal that they can emboss in wax. Steve will supply the wax and certificates.

Coffee and doughnuts will be available in the morning, and the chapter’s annual business meeting will take place before lunch. We will again this year attempt to keep the business meeting very compact so there’s maximum time for the really fun stuff. To facilitate this, the chapter officer’s reports are included with these Notes. (Please see page 5) Also, elections for chapter officers will occur later this year, so nominations for those officers will be accepted during the meeting.

The meeting will be followed by a pot-luck lunch. If you would like to contribute something for the lunch, side dishes, salads and desserts are always welcome, but not required, the most important thing by far being your presence.

As always, the new edition of the Cheapeake Chapter wall calendar will be available (for the bargain price of $20) and we’ll have chapter pint glasses ($5) on hand as well. So you can socialize, eat, print your keepsake, and do your holiday shopping all in one Saturday.

Be sure to come since this is the best attended Chapter event of the year and provides the opportunity to meet, converse with, and enjoy your fellow members. It’s also a terrific opportunity to welcome new friends into the fold. If you know someone with an interest in printing, binding, calligraphy, book design, papermaking, designing and building printing presses, collecting, etc. please invite them to join us. Contact Chris Manson, Chris Sweterlitsch, or George Barnum for more information.
