ISO: Ink Health Hazard Info
From the Contact form:
I own a commercial building that was used as a newspaper printing facility from the 1930s to 1990. Subsequently the building was used as various offices and a church. I have been using it as my office for 5 years and am considering building an apartment to live there.
The original design of the building had an attic fan which sucked air through the basement and main floor to an airspace about 5’ tall and 4000 square feet in floor space to the vents on the outside of the building. Even though this area is sealed, when the wind is just right I get chunks of what appears to be newspaper ink sprinkling down. The basement has the same issue, there is an acoustic ceiling littered with black dots and smears.
I have been unable to find a reputable air quality testing company in my area. What potential dangers does this ink pose? Is there a way that you know of to test the environment? Are there standard remediation tactics that you are aware of? Thank you for your help.
