Census of Bruce Type-Foundry’s 1882 Specimen Book

I am making a census of the 1882 specimen book issued by George Bruce’s Son New-York Type-Foundry. Would anyone owning copies please get in touch with me so that I can ask several questions about your copy. Thank you.

    I have the 1901 Bruce specimen, Printing Types, which has extraordinary unidentified running passages of text for the specimens. Best wishes for your census and research. Tom Parson

    Paul,
    Massey College in Toronto has a copy. What a tour de force, as specimen books go, and chock full of great printing history information — who knew. I had not looked at it before, and was blown away.
    Our copy includes a price listing in a smaller format (dated 1882), a four page addendum of typefaces (dated 1883), and that wonderful inclusion of De Vinne’s Invention of Printing as an added bonus.
    I’ll be interested to hear how many are reported to you.
