Zoom Event with Bay View National Black Newspaper
The NorCal Chapter’s plans for an August newspaper printing plant tour were throttled by Covid-19. But then we discovered SF Heritage’s upcoming program and thought, how about a virtual tour? On August 20th, at 6 p.m. (Pacific Time), San Francisco Heritage will present San Francisco Neighborhood Heroines: The San Francisco Bay View’s Mary Ratcliff.
Mary Ratcliff is the longtime editor and co-owner of The San Francisco Bay View National Black Newspaper which was founded in 1976 and was the first neighborhood newspaper to join the Legacy Business Registry. She and Griffin Jones, the paper’s journalist, copyeditor, and archivist, will have a conversation with LisaRuth Elliott from the Neighborhood Newspapers of San Francisco project. They will discuss the paper’s legacy, community journalism, and doing outreach during the pandemic.
Join us for this virtual watch-party! The Zoom program is free but limited to 100. You can register here.
The program will also be live-streamed on SF Heritage’s Facebook page. See you there.
