1999 Lieberman Memorial Lecture Barry Moser Barry Moser, book designer and illustrator, will deliver the 1999 Lieberman Memorial Lecture on Saturday November 13. Moser will speak on "After the Bible: Dreams, Money, & Reality" at 8 p.m. in the Shambaugh Auditorium of the University of Iowa Main Library. The lecture, which is sponsored by the American Printing History Association, the University of Iowa Libraries, and the University of Iowa Center for the Book, is free and open to the public. (An Adobe Acrobat file of the lecture's poster is available, below.) Barry Moser is a book designer and illustrator who has recently completed the Pennyroyal Caxton Bible, a fine press and trade edition of the King James Bible illustrated with over 230 engravings. He will discuss his plans for the future, various aspects of patronage, and the hard business realities of creating fine press books. The Lieberman Lecture was established in 1986 by the American Printing History Association in honor of its founder and first president, J. Ben Lieberman. His leadership was an outgrowth of his passion for letterpress printing. Previous speakers have included Claire Van Vliet, Paul Needham, David Kaser, Robert Bringhurst, Claire Badaracco, and G. Thomas Tanselle. Download an Adobe Acrobat file of the lecture's poster, designed by Sara T. Sauers, with a self-portrait of Moser.
